Frequently Asked Questions
Please send us an email if you cannot find an answer to your question.
What is Therapy?
Therapy is a safe and effective treatment for a variety of emotional difficulties and mental health concerns. It offers the opportunity to discuss/talk about issues that are important to you, while having a trained objective person (therapist) there to help work through the current distressing issues while also helping to eliminate similar future situations. Therapy can be about one specific problem, or it can be about multiple. Therapy is a collaborative approach, it requires an active role from both the client and the therapist for change to occur.
Length and attendance of a therapy session?
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length. Clients typically meet on a weekly, bi weekly, or monthly basis depending on the client’s needs. Length of time while in therapy will depend on the individual client’s circumstances. The therapist and client will determine that together.
What does a first session look like?
The initial session will discuss the client's history and assess for treatment approaches. During the first session, the client will have the opportunity to see how therapy will work, review our privacy and confidentiality policies, and determine whether or not they are comfortable with the therapist.
NOTE: It is vital to have a positive working relationship with your therapist.

How will I know if we are a fit?
The only way to know for sure if we are the right fit is to come in for a session. Most of the time people have a good sense of whether we are the right professional to help within the first two sessions. However, we have tried to provide you with information on this website and our Psychology Today profiles to gain a sense of who we are and how we work.
Will therapy fees be Covered by insurance?
Therapeutic services are generally covered or partially covered by most third party health insurance plans. Following each session, you will receive an official receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. The receipts will indicate that you received therapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist. If you have extended health care benefits, it is recommended that you check with your insurance company to ensure these services will be covered, prior to your first session.
What methods of payment are accepted?
Payments for therapy services can be made via debit, credit card, or American Express.
We can also accept cash and e-transfer.
